Family torn apart by divorce reunited thanks to social media

When it comes to divorce, there are a lot of things that the divorcing parties need to watch out for. In this increasingly technological society, one example of these dangers is social media. Many divorcees fall into the trap of saying things on social media sites -- may it be Facebook or Twitter or some other website -- that end up costing them dearly when their divorce is finalized.

Saying something inflammatory or inappropriate on Facebook about your soon-to-be-ex; or posting photos that are devious; or hacking into your ex's account; these are all examples of irresponsible behavior that any divorce judge would consider heinous. As a result, the offending spouse could miss out on many of the things he or she is asking for in the divorce. They may lose time with their kids, or miss out on many assets that they may have a rightful claim to.

And yet, with all of the negativity social media is getting in the world of family law, there are still stories that show why these social media sites command such popularity as they do.

A family in Texas that was devastated by a divorce long ago has been reunited thanks to Facebook. The family was torn apart by a divorce many years ago; and after the parents went their separate ways, their kids were left wondering who their parents actually were. After an exhaustive Facebook search, the kids finally found their mother and father. They were recently reunited, and the moment, while touching, was a nice reminder that social media does not always have to be a harbinger of bad omens when it comes to divorce.
